TRANSCRIPTWorkplace Conversation — Marcus & Priya
[Conversation between two colleagues — Marcus and Priya] Marcus: Hey Priya, do you have a minute? I've been struggling with the timeline for the Henderson project. The client moved the deadline up by two weeks and I honestly don't know how we're going to manage it. Priya: Oh wow, that's a tough one. Have you already spoken to the project manager about reallocating resources? Marcus: Not yet. I was worried that asking for more help would make me look like I can't handle the workload. Priya: I completely understand that concern, but honestly, staying quiet and missing the deadline would look much worse. Most project managers would rather know early than be surprised at the end. Marcus: That's a fair point. I guess I've been trying to solve it myself, but I've been going in circles. Priya: Another thing worth considering — are there any lower-priority tasks you could push back? Sometimes you can create breathing room without needing extra staff. Marcus: Actually yes, the internal reporting component isn't due until next quarter. I could probably delay that. Priya: See? That's already one option. Talk to your PM, lay out what's realistic, and come with solutions rather than just the problem. That always lands better. Marcus: You're right. I'll set up a meeting with her this afternoon. Thanks Priya — I feel a lot clearer now.
